I had been working like a dog these past few months. “Running around like a chicken with its head cut off,” according to my friend, Sasha. But thankfully, as of 3 pm today, the countdown had officially begun, and it was time to pack for my long-awaited vacation.

Comfortable pajamas, silky soft scarf, trusted fuzzy socks, sleeping mask, sound machine, and sleepy time tea among other essentials. Check, check, check, and check. I was finally ready to go. You might think I have ways to travel, but I don’t. My ideal vacation spot is my bed since it is affordable, convenient, and comfortable.
With the hike in the price of all goods nowadays, my bed is one of the few places I can afford. I invested in a quality pillow top mattress two years ago and have never regretted it. It may not have been a wise decision at the time considering I was not in the best financial situation. But, I am so glad I listened to my gut. Now, when I need a great spot to relax at no cost, my bed is available.
I’ll go even further and say that from a getaway point of view, it is truly cost-effective. There are no transportation costs for flying, riding, or driving associated with getting into my bed. Not even the price of gas, which rivals the price of gold these days, needs to factor in. I can take a trip to my bed to reset, rest, and rejuvenate and not have to break the bank as it is a more affordable option.

Can you think of a place more convenient than a space already located in your own home? Often, before you arrive at a vacation spot, you must deal with the stress and anxiety of flying, riding, or driving. To be on the side of caution, you also have to make sure the area is safe and the crime rates in the neighboring areas are low. My bed embodies the real estate mantra: “Location! Location! Location!” No need to research neighborhoods or local attractions, all this information is already known, and so much more.
I even have the inside scoop on the best places to order takeout or shop if I need a change of scenery. There’s no doubt about safety and no need for foreign currency or knowledge of another language. There is no chance of surprises, and anything I might need for a peaceful vacation is already at my disposal, making my bed an absolute gem of convenience.

The ability to be comfortable in my bed is a given. I labored for months trying to make my room an oasis of comfort. I carefully considered every detail. I selected the wall color, the drapes, and the artwork pieces not just for aesthetics but also to complement the mood I wanted to achieve in my room. My scented candles, various lamps, furniture, and other accent pieces contribute to creating the feeling of warm elegance I started throughout my home.
Lying on the highest quality 600 thread count super-soft sheets does not hurt at all. My bedding rivals that of any luxury hotel. How could you not be comfortable on a soft pillowtop surface surrounded by fluffy cloud-like pillows? With the temperature always ideal, there could not be a more comfortable spot than my bed.

As I serenely lounge in my favorite pajamas, scarf, and socks, I can’t help but smile and think of the Cheshire cat. I saved myself money and time while making sure I was as comfortable as I could ever be. This vacation however short will go down in history as one the best of my life.
It was blissful to lazily watch a show, listen to a fun podcast or audiobook, and let my imagination run wild while planning and drafting my next short story. Even you would surely agree at this point that my bed is the most cost-effective, convenient, and comfortable place. Next time you need a getaway, please consider your bed, which might just be the spot you needed all along but have been overlooking.
